INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS

If you are not a Canadian Citizen or have landed Immigrant papers, there are a few procedures to follow in order to work in Canada at Muskoka Woods.

  1. You need to go through the regular application and interview process.
  2. If we decide to hire you, we will send you all of the information you will need to apply for a work permit. You will be responsible for filling out the information and sending it to the appropriate authorities. Please DO NOT book your flight until you have received confirmation that you have been approved for a work permit!
**Important note:
Due to the length of time it takes to complete all of these steps, your application must be in 12 weeks BEFORE your contract date would begin. Please see Employment Dates.

**Payroll Policy:
Once hired, international staff will be considered employees and must obtain a S.I.N. and complete a TD1 Tax Form to determine their status in Canada for tax purposes.

Tax rates for International staff are as follows: if 90% or more of an international staff member’s yearly income is earned in Canada, they are treated in the same way as Canadian residents (i.e. if they earn less than $8012.00 per year, they are tax exempt but if their income exceeds $8012.00, they pay Canadian tax at a “normal” rate). However, if an international staff member earns less than 90% of their wages in Canada for the year, they are taxed at the higher non-resident tax rate (which is about 40%).
